Roles & Permissions¶
Who can do what in your org — and how to customize it.
The basics¶
Every server starts in Basic mode with three tiers:

Officer and Admin are mapped from your Discord roles in Server Settings → Core → Access & Roles. Members with Discord's Manage Server or Administrator permission count automatically.
Advanced mode: permissions per rank¶
Bigger orgs often want more nuance than three tiers — a Logistics rank that can view the treasury, or a probationary rank that can't open loot sessions yet. That's Advanced mode:
- Every rank in your org chart gets its own set of feature toggles, managed in a matrix on Server Settings → Permissions.
- Members with no rank have their own pinned row in the matrix, so nobody falls through the cracks.
- Grants work both ways: you can open staff surfaces (like the treasury view) to a trusted rank, or restrict member surfaces (like events) from one.
- Management can be delegated too: the Events Management and Loot Management toggles let a rank run recurring schedules, roulette, and loot sessions without making them full officers.
You can't lock yourself out
Officers and admins always keep their tier's access, whatever the matrix says. Rank toggles only affect regular members — and switching back to Basic instantly restores the classic ladder, keeping your grants saved for later.
Turning it on¶
Advanced mode is rolling out gradually. When it's enabled for your server, the switch lives in Server Settings → Core → Access & Roles; flipping it seeds every rank with normal member access, so nothing changes until you start customizing. If the switch tells you it isn't enabled yet, reach out on the support Discord.
Good to know¶
- Ranks themselves are created and ordered in Org Chart — the Permissions matrix only decides what each rank can use.
- Deleting a rank discards its toggles; its members follow the "Unranked members" row until they're re-ranked.
- In Discord, a member whose rank lacks a module can still see its slash commands — running one just answers privately that their rank doesn't have access.
