Getting Started¶
Get your org up and running in a few minutes — no installs, no spreadsheets.
1. Open the app & sign in¶
Head to starorg.tools and sign in with Discord. Star Org Labs uses your Discord account, so there's nothing new to create.
2. Add the bot to your server¶
In the app, use "Add to Server" and pick the Discord server you want to run your org from. You'll need permission to add a bot to that server.
What the bot asks for¶
The invite requests a specific, scoped set of Discord permissions — never Administrator. Here's what's granted and why:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| View Channels | See the channels it posts in and manages |
| Manage Channels | Create/remove temporary voice channels (voice hubs, event ops channels) |
| Move Members | Move members into voice hubs and event voice channels |
| Manage Roles | Apply promotions and sync ranks from your RSI org page |
| Send Messages | Post event announcements and notifications |
| Send Messages in Threads | Reply inside ticket threads |
| Embed Links | Rich event and announcement embeds |
| Attach Files | Attach generated images (e.g. fleet/roster exports) to messages |
| Read Message History | Track poll activity so old polls don't get buried |
| Manage Threads | Close and lock resolved ticket threads |
| Create Public Threads | Open public ticket and event-discussion threads |
| Create Private Threads | Open private ticket threads |
| Manage Events | Create, update, and cancel Discord's native scheduled events for your ops |
| Connect | Join voice hub channels (required for the bot to grant this to hub owners/members too — Discord only lets a bot hand out a permission it holds itself) |
| Speak / Stream / Priority Speaker / Mute Members / Deafen Members | Voice hub owner controls |
3. Set up your org¶
From Server Settings, make it yours:
- Drop in your org logo
- Pick a theme — your manufacturer's colors, or a look of your own
- Configure your channels so events and pings land in the right place
- Map your officer and admin roles — and see Roles & Permissions for per-rank access control
4. Run your first op¶
Hit Create Event, build out the roster (roles, ships, teams), and share it. Your members sign up straight from Discord — and you track it all from the web. 🎉
What's next?¶
Now that the bot is in, here's where everything lives:
| Guide | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Events & Ops | Planning an op, signups, voice, attendance, the AAR |
| Templates & Recurring Ops | Save an op's shape, schedule it, mission roulette |
| Loot Hub | Splitting a haul — the four distribution modes and guild points |
| Fleet & Hangar | Your ships, who can see them, the Org Fleet Dashboard |
| Voice Channels | Join-to-create hubs and the op's own channels |
| Org Command | Roster, org chart, promotions, tickets, treasury, goals, CMS |
| Industrial | Mining sessions, RSIG decoder, cargo optimizer, work orders |
